هي زوجة الخديوى عباس الثانى (حكم مصر1892-1914) تولى الخديوى عباس حلمى الثانى حكم مصر عام 1892 بعد وفاة والده الخديوى توفيق فى ذروة نفوذ اللورد كرومر المعتمد البريطانى فى مصر والحاكم الفعلى للبلاد آنذاك. شهد عصر عباس حلمى بوادر تشكل صورة مصر الحديثة من خلال ظهور الأحزاب وقبل ذلك صدور صحف مهدت لقيام هذه الأحزاب. كما أن زعامات وطنية ذات وزن وقيمة برزت فى تلك الفترة وفى مقدمتها مصطفى كامل ومحمد فريد وعلى يوسف وأحمد لطفى السيد.
