الرسم بالحاسوب الآلي له برامج عدة تختلف هذه البرامج فيما بينها باختلاف الهدف الذي من أجله صممت له،فحاجة المهندس الميكانيكي تختلف عن حاجة المهندس المعماري،وتختلف ايضاً عن حاجة مهندس الإلكترونيات وهكذا،لذا أتت فكرة تطوير برنامج الرسم AutoCAD بحيث يتم تخصيصه حسب حاجة الاستخدام. سوف نقدم لك عزيزي الطالب في الفصل الأول فكرة مختصرة عن الفرق بين الرسم والتصميم بواسطة اليد،وبين الرسم بواسطة الحاسوب الآلي،ومنها ننطلق لنتعرف على واجهة برنامج (AutoCAD 2002)،وستكتسب في كل وحدة من وحداته السبع مجموعة جديدة من المعارف والمهارات،بأسلوب التدريب خطوة خطوة مع العلم اننا حرصنا أن تكون كل مهارة وكل وحدة غير مرتبطةأمثلتها بالمهارة أوالوحدة السابقة ثم قمنا في نهاية المطاف بوضع أمثلة شاملة ومحلولة لربط جميع الفصول في مثال شامل أعقبتها بعد ذلك بأسئلة تدريبية لزيادة المهارات وتثبيتها.
