حرصتُ على أن يكون هذا المعجم جامعاً شاملاً لكل سكان البلاد، مرشداً لمن ينجب، ودليلاً لمن سماهم به آباؤهم، فتجمَّعَ لديَّ أكثرُ من خمسة آلاف اسم، ولو أردتُ لتضاعفَ العدد بضع مرات، لكنني أردته مجملاً موضَّحاً لِما هو معروف، ولِما وضعتُ من أسماء جديدة. فأنا في عملي هذا لم أكتفِ بأسماء الماضين، بل ضممتُ فيه المستحدثَ والمتداول، العربي والأجنبي، الإسلامي والمسيحي، المفرد والمركب، الأصيل والمرخَّم، والمحرَّف، والمدلًّع، ورجعتُ إلى القرآن الكريم، والحديث الشريف، والكتاب المقدس قديمه وحديثه... وكلُّ ما أرجوه في الختام أن يُحسن الأهلُ إختيار الإسم ذي المعنى الجميل الذي نرجو أن يتحلى به الأبناء.
