نعلم أن «شهادة يسوع هي روح النبوة»، ولا يخلو جزء من كلمة الله من إشارة أو إعلان عن شخصه الكريم. وينطبق هذا الكلام بصفة خاصة على سفر المزامير بمجمله. على أن هناك بعض المزامير ترتبط بالمسيح ارتباطًا خاصًا، وقد اقتُبس منها اقتباسات مباشرة طُبِّقت على شخصه المبارك. تلك المزامير إنما تتكلم عنه، عن المسيا: مجيئه بالجسد، حياته الكاملة، كمال كفارته، قيامته، أمجاده، وملكه الألفي السعيد. وبهذه المزامير، وهي 41 مزمورًا، اهتم الكاتب بالشرح الوافي والتأمل العميق في هذا الكتاب، والذي كان قد سبق وقدّم مادته مسموعة على مرّ فترة زمنية طويلة بمصرالجديدة، إلا أنه تناوله أيضًا بالتنقيح والإضافة، كما أضاف تأملات عن عدة مزامير أخرى بها إشارات عن شخص المسيح، فخرج الكتاب في شكل متميز جديد.
