إن من غايات نشر هذه الدراسة- اليوم- تحسيس القارئ بأن البحث في ذخيرة الثقافة الأندلسية: أشعارًا ورسائل فلسفية وسياسية وعمرانًا وحدائق ومنيات وأشكالًا ونماذج من التحاور والتعايش بين الديانات والعرقيات جدير باقتناع المغاربة بدورهم في صناعة هذه الثقافة، وكفيل بإيمانهم بأنهم ورثتها الحقيقيون والمتعهدون بها من أزمان. ... إن تعدد قصائد ابن دراج في الأسرتين العامرية والتجيبية جعلني أعتمد المنهج الموضوعاتي من أجل حصر الموضوعات الشعرية المميزة لمديحه. والغالبة في الأسرتين معًا، فانتهيت بذلك إلى أربع موضوعات شعرية أساسية في مديحه: موضوعتا شعر المعارك الحربية والصراع العقدي في الأسرة العامرية، وموضوعتا شعر الذات الحزينة المبعدة ومرجعية المدحة في الأسرة التجيبية. كما أخذت قصيدة من عيون شعره المديحي بالدرس والتحليل، وهي قصيدة عارض فيها ابن دراج قصيدة أبي نواس التي مدح بها الخصيب بن عبد الحميد صاحب الخراج بمصر. فانتهيت من خلال تحليلها إلى موضوعات تتسم بطابع الثنائية، إذ وجدت القصيدة تتدرج وتنمو عبر ثنائيات: العجز والقدرة، والوحشة والأنس والضعة والسمو.
