إن الردود النحوية من الموضوعات التي رافقت نشأة النحو في لحظات نموه الأولى، وكان لهذه الردود النحوية دور كبير في صياغة القاعدة النحوية ونشوء المذاهب النحوية المختلفة، وخاصة إذا ما أدركنا أن الرد النحوي الذي توجه به حماد بن سلمة لسيبويه، كما ورد في الرواية المشهورة، عندما قال سيبويه: "ليس أبو الدرداء" فصاح به حماد: لحنت يا سيبويه إنما هذا إستثناء، فكان هذا الرد النحوي سبباً في قراءة سيبويه النحو عندما قال: "والله لأطلبن علماً لا يلحنني معه أحد ثم مضى ولزم الخليل وغيره".
والأسباب التي دعتني إلى إختيار هذا الموضوع هي: 1-رغبة الباحث في دراسة عَلَم نحوي يتسم بمنهج مستقل له مكانته في الدراسات النحوية قديماً وحديثاً، 2-رغبة الباحث في التعرف على شخصية ابن مالك عن قرب بدراسة ردوده في مؤلفاته المختلفة، 3-ما لاحظه الباحث من كثرة ردود ابن مالك في كتبه بصفتها ظاهرة تستدعي الوقوف عليها وإظهار مميزاتها، 4-ما ينال الدارس للردود النحوية من فائدة علمية مرجوة وما فيها من كشف عن رأي أصحابها وقوة حجتهم والقدرة على تفنيد آرائهم، وشمولية لدراسة الأبواب النحوية المختلفة، 5-لما للردود النحوية من دور في تيسير وفهم القواعد النحوية.
