نبذة النيل والفرات: لم تكن وسائل الاتصال بشكل عام، وفي المجال السياحي بوجه خاص، معقدة في الماضي؛ لأن النظام الاقتصادي والاجتماعي كان بسيطاً، والاتصال بين أفراده وجماعاته منظماً وسهلاً وواضحاً. أما اليوم، وفي ظل الانفتاح العالمي والتقدم التكنولوجي وانتشار وسائل الاتصال بكافة أشكالها فقد تحولت الكرة الأرضية إلى قرية كونية صغيرة، وبالتالي باتت الحاجة تستدعي احتراف السياحة كظاهرة لافتة للأنظار في مطلع الألفية الثالثة، مما استدعى إقبال الشباب في الوطن العربي بوجه عام الأمر الذي يستدعي تأهيلهم ليكونوا جاهزين لهذه المهمة الجديدة من خلال التركيز على الأمور التالية والتي شكلت محور البحث في هذا الكتاب وهي: مبادئ العلاقات العامة، وظائف العاملين في العلاقات العامة، الإعلام وأهميته ووسائله، وسائل الدعاية والإعلان، تأثير الدعاية في سلوك الفرد والجماعة والعاملين في الإعلان، الرأي العام، وسائل الاتصال الحديثة، مبادئ التواصل. هذا وإن الهدف الأساسي من هذا التأهيل لشباب الوطن العربي إنما يعني نجاحهم في ترويج المنتجات السياحية العربية والمحلية، خاصة وأن الوطن العربي إنما يمتاز بميزات ينفرد فيها عن بقية دول العالم في المجال السياحي، فهو مهد الديانات السماوية ومهد الحضارات القديمة، بالإضافة إلى ذلك فإن امتياز الوطن العربي يتجلى بمناخه المعتدل، وبيئته الجميلة، ناهيك عن التقاء الشرق والغرب على أرضه. أما الهدف من هذا الكتاب فهو تقديم خدمة للشباب العربي بصورة عامة، ولطلاب المعاهد التي تخرج كادرات سياحية، كما أن هذا الكتاب خطوة على طريق إغناء المكتبة العربية بهذا النوع من التآليف.
