أصدقائي الصغار هذا الكتاب في جزءين. نقدّم في هذا الجزء الأول مجموعة من الصور، ليلونها الطفل في منزله أو في المدرسة. والهدف الأول الذي نرمي إليه، هو أن يقبل أطفالنا على استخدام الألوان، ففي اللون متعة للعين، وغذاء للخيال، ومران لليد. وفي التلوين نشاط مرح يُدخل البهجة إلى القلب. والهدف الثاني هو أن نقدّم لأطفالنا مجموعة من اللوحات، اعتاد أن يرى بعضها في محيطه، أو هي جديدة عليه. ويعبّر بعض اللوحات عن هوايات رياضية بريئة: كالرحلة إلى البحر، والنزهة في الغابة، وصيد السمك، وركوب الدراجة، وكرة السلة... ويعبّر بعضها الآخر عن حيوانات أليفة وغير أليفة: كالأرنب، والدب، والسلحفاة، والقرد، والكنغر. إنه كتاب يدعو الطفل إلى ممارسة فن اللون، وإلى التعبير عن قوة نفسية، وإلى التنزّه في عالم الجمال: جمال الصورة وجمال الطبيعة، في آن واحد.
