يعد الروائي "نصيف ملك" من الأدباء الهاربين من جور السلطان، كتب عن آلام الناس وأحلامهم، عن أفراحهم وأتراحهم في مشهد درامي يتوقف فيه عند مفصل تاريخي هام من تاريخ بلاده "العراق" إبان حكم نظام البعث وما مثله شخص الرئيس (صدام) من قمع لحرية الكلمة كله كان نصيف فلك يكتب بجوارحه وليس بقلمه. قال عنه النقاد: "كتاباته تقشعر لها الأبدان لقصة حياته الخاصة بما فيها من هروب واعتقالات على حدود بلدان مختلفة، ومن ثم السجن في معتقل أبو غريب أيام حكم صدام". وفي "عين الدود" يكتب عن المتخذلقين والانتهازيين وأبناء عصور السلطة الذين ينتقلون من محفظة إلى أخرى، يسرقون حق الآخرين، في وطنهم وفي حق تقرير مصيرهم، تحكي هذه الرواية عن الجماعات المتطرفة في العراق، والعنف الطائفي الذي ابتلي به أبناء العراق حتى ضاع الحابل بالنابل تحت شعار (الله اكبر) بعيداً عن المعتنى المراد بهذه الكلمة. وفي هذه الرواية يتخلى نصيف فلك عن موقع الروائي المثقف ليقف كسارد في منطقة السرد الشعبي، وهذا لا يفعله إلا روائي عاش هموم بلده وأحزانه، لقد جسد من خلال بطل روايته تاريخ العراق المعاصر في فترة عصبية من السبعينات والثمانينات وصولاً إلى واقع العراق الراهن بحيث نراه ينتقل من الحاضر إلى الماضي بلغة سردية يلفها حوار ذاتي. يقول بطل الرواية سمعت خطوات شخص تقترب ثم وقف بجانبي، نزع الخرقة السوداء من عيني وأدخل صمونة يابسة وقال: ما ندري على يا قبله انذبحك.. على قبلة اليهود لو الصبه لو انذبحك على قبلة موسكو أحسن؟". "عين الدود" هي أكثر من رواية هي ملحمة شعب ما يزال يحتضر، كما يراها كاتب متنور، حر ومستقل، في وطنٍ ليس فيه موطئ قدم لا للحرية ولا للعدالة...
