في روايتها "العامورة" أو عروس الليل تتبنى سلوى البنا القضية الفلسطينية وتنبش في التراث الشعبي لفلسطين وتنهل منه أسطورة "العامورة" وهي روح القتيل ظلماً التي لم تجد من يثأر لها، فتخرج في الليالي الموحشة تطوف في الزواريب والأزقة القديمة تصدر الأنين والوجع ... وفي هذه الرواية يبدو أن وجع الفلسطيني لا يزال ينزف فمشاهد التقتيل والدمار أصعب من أن يصفها قلم روائي وها هي سلوى البنا تجسدها كحقيقة وليس أسطورة، فتفاصيل الحكاية هنا أكثر رعباً من تفاصيل حكاية العامورة ومع هذا تبقى حقيقة سواء رفضناها أم قبلناها. تقول سلوى البنا عن روايتها هذه " ... الحقيقة تجسدها طفلة صغيرة إسمها هناء تمثل الغد بكل ملامحه المجهولة، تماماً كما يمثلها حسان رمز الواقع الذي نعيشه منذ سنوات. حسان الذي يخرج من القبور منادياً لم يكن هو العامورة وان تمثل للطفلة هناء كذلك فهو الشهيد الذي أصر على الموت دفاعاً عن الحق والكرامة رغم رؤيته تفاصيل الهزيمة يخرج في صباح العيد، صباح المجزرة ليذكّر الناس بأن الموت لا يعني النهاية. وما بين حسان الواقع الذي يرفض الإمتثال لملامح الهزيمة ...، وما بين هناء الطفلة التي تنبت وسط هذا الواقع مجسدة الغد والأمل في نفس الوقت تلتحم فصول رواية العامورة. وهكذا ومن خلال العامورة تقول سلوى البنا بشاعة الحروب وعماها، من جهة، وانعدام الضمير العربي من جهة أخرى فكانت الرواية تجسيداً لصرخة الطفولة في وجه صناع الحروب...
