"أرض الغجرية" عمل أدبي يشير الى علاقة التلازم بين الحياة والموت، فهما وجهان لعملة واحدة ووجود أحدهما شرط لوجود الآخر. فهل تتحقق هذه القراءة في المتن الروائي. في هذا العمل، رؤية خاصة لمسألة الحياة والموت، يبدو فيها صوت الراوي وحيداً في مقبرة الأموات، يستحث أفكاره، ويصنع حياة للأموات، ويتحدث عن تفاصيلها، مشاركهم المكان، متخيلاً مشاهد الموتى، كما تراءت له بالأحلام!! يقول: "... أفكر كثيراً بالموتى: ماذا يفعلون؟ وما الله فاعل بهم؟ ما شغلهم وشاغلهم؟ وما حياة القبور الضيقة؟ أختلق أفكارهم وحياتهم، لكني أتراجع بسرعة رهيبة خوفاً وشفقة على نفسي من الموت ساعة، ومن الجنون ساعة، ومن الناس ساعة، حتى عبثت بي ساعات الخوف فصرت مسكوناً بقبر في رأسي لا يغادرني لحظة واحدة...". "أرض الغجرية" نص محمول على نية الكتابة المبتية من أجل إعادة خلق وإنتاج ما هو معروف وعام "الموت" وفي نفس الوقت إعادة تخليق الكاتب لنفسه وتبيان لرؤيته، وهو ينقل لنا لوحات الحياة ومشاهدها وإنشغالات الإنسان في إيجاد دالة بين الموت والحياة "... ظننت بما يشبه اليقين أن لموتي موتاً آخر، وأن بقائي يحتاج زمناً فقط (...) شعرت أن لي رحلة أخرى، لا أدري ماذا يسميها الموتى، ولا أدري ماذا يطلق عليها الأحياء، لكنها حتماً انتقال آخر!..." يمكن القول، أن الراوي أراد التأكيد أن الموت ليس هو نهاية الكائن، بل هناك ولادة جديدة، في عالم آخر، لا يعلم سره إلا الله...
