المجموعة التى تقع فى 105 صفحات من القطع المتوسط، تضم 13 قصة قصيرة من بينها "الحارسة" و"مقاعد خالية" و"خالتى نبيلة" و"بلا طقوس" و"ضوء قمر غير مكتمل" و"الشقيقات الثلاث" و"أخ وحيد" وغيرها، بالإضافة إلى "حرج الأعرج" التى اختارها القاص عنواناً للمجموعة. وفى قصته "حرج الأعرج" كتب يقول: "شعرت بالصمت يلف الحجرة الكالحة رغم ثرثرته المتعجلة وحضور زوجته العجوز القابعة فوق كنبة قديمة تنظر إلينا بفم مفتوح خالياً، إلا من سنتين بارزتين، تاركة له السرير المعدنى الصدأ". "حرج الأعرج" هى العمل السادس له، وصدر له من قبل رواية بعنوان "بوابات اللهب" عن الهيئة العامة لقصور الثقافة، وأخرى بعنوان "نسيج أبو العلا" عن الهيئة العامة للكتاب، وثلاث مجموعات قصصية الأولى بعنوان "الجانب الآخر من النهر" والثانية بعنوان "الذبيحة"، وأخرى بعنوان "فوق المظلة". كما حصل "الفقى" على العديد من الجوائز منها جائزة "هيئة الفنون"، وجائزة "الرشيد العراقية" فى القصة، وجائزة "إحسان عبد القدوس" فى الرواية.
