تعود إقبال بكري احدى قيادات الحركة الطلابية عام 1972 في مصر من ألمانيا بعد ثماني سنوات للحصول على الدكتوراه في الأدب العربي من جامعة ميونيج. أما شقيقها الذي كاد ينتهى من سيناريو حياته عن ثورة عرابي باشا فقد اختفى مع حرب الخليج. تتقاطع المصائر وتطل اقبال على عالم غريب كانت قد عادرته بين عملها في احد المكاتب الصحفية وأصدقائها القدامى الذين فشلت في استعادتهم تتحرك اقبال بين أطلال لا تملك حتى البكاء عليها.
