اللغاتُ مفردها: لغة، واللغةُ منَ الظَّواهرِ الاجتماعية الإنسانيةِ، ولا يخلو مجتمعٌ من المجتمعاتِ منها، وبوساطتها تُعرفُ السماتُ المُميِّزة لأيِّ مجتمعٍ، في أي عصر. واللغةُ «أصواتٌ يُعبِّرُ بها كُلُّ قومٍ عن أغراضِهِم»، فهي (أي اللغةُ) إذن: مجموعةٌ مِنَ الرموزِ تعارف عليها المجتمعُ، أيُّ مجتمع، تلبيةً لضروراتهِ وحاجاتهِ الفكرية والاجتماعية والثقافية وغيرها من ضرورات الحياة الإنسانية. اللغاتُ الواردة في القرآنِ الكريم، التي ضمَّتها كتب (لغات القرآن) ومنها الكتاب المنسوب إلى سيدنا ابن عباس رضيَ اللهُ عنهما، والمشار إليها فيهِ برواياتهِ المختلفة، هي لهجاتُ القبائل العربية وقتَ نزولِ القرآن الكريم، أي إنها تُمثِّلُ لغة (لهجة) كُلِّ حيٍّ من أحياءِ العربِ في وُجُوهِ عددٍ من ألفاظِ هذا الحي أو ذاك، أو هذهِ القبيلةِ أو تلكَ. ونعني بالوجوه: «المعاني المتعدِّدة، على طريق المجا، للفظِ الواحد، أو ما يتصرَّفُ إليهِ اللفظُ الواحدُ من معانٍ متعدِّدة يُعبَّرُ عنها بغيرِ ألفاظِها، وإذا تُؤُمِّلت رَجعت إلى المعنى الأصليِّ لها». وقد أحصى علمُ الوجوه والنظائر في القرآنِ الكريم وُجُوهَ الألفاظِ ذات المعاني أو الدلالاتِ المتعدِّدة ونظائرها في القرآن الكريم بعددٍ مِنَ المؤلفات، غير أنَّهُ لم ينسبها إلى قبائلها كما في كتب اللغات التي نحنُ بصددِ تحقيق واحدٍ منها.
