يعالج الكتاب الذي بين أيدينا وضع الدولة العثمانية والدول المجاورة لها، كدول أوروبا وإيران والصفوية، بل وعلاقة العثمانيين بأماكن بعيدة كاليمن والهند، وكذا المحيط الأطلنطي، وكل ما أثر في سياسة وتصورات الدولة العثمانية.
