هذا الكتاب يُعد رواية واقعية للأحداث المؤسفة التي حدثت خلال فترة الغزو العراقي للكويت عام 1990م، حيث يروى المؤلف وهو أحد شهود العيان على الأحداث المؤسفة التي شهدتها دولة الكويت جراء هذا العدوان الغاشم، وثرواتها التي تعرضت للنهب والتدمير أثناء هذا الإحتلال الجائر. ويروي المؤلف أيضاً من خلال معاصرته لتلك الفترة، قصة معاناة شعب الكويت الطيب الذي تجرع مرارة الألم أثناء الغزو، حيث دمر الإحتلال المدارس والمؤسسات، والأسواق، حتى معالم الدولة، وشوارعها، وتعليمها وثقافتها، إلى جانب تعطيل العمل ومصدر الرزق فيها. كما تحدث المؤلف عن قدرة تحمّل وتصبّر هذا الشعب حتى تخطى هذه المحنة، لكي ينهض بهذا البلد الجميل الذي واجهه تحديات كبيرة، بعد أن انتصر على نظام ديكتاتوري مستبد حاول بكل إمكانياته أن يستحوذ على ثرواته. ويبقى السؤال لماذا حدث ذلك وكيف حدث...؟ فلربما تحكي هذه الشهادة إجابة هذا السؤال.....،
