الكتاب من تقديم نور الدين الواعظ، الكتاب طبعة ثالثة. ديوان "أغاني المعارك" للشاعر وليد الأعظمي-وهو الديوان الثالث له-عمل أدبي جاء ثمرة للتجارب الشعرية التي عاشها الشاعر، فعبر عنها بأسلوبه الخاص.. وبقول بأسلوبه الخاص لأن "وليداً" يسلك أسلوباً معينا من أساليب التعبير في شعره، وهو ذكر "الحقيقة" بثوبها الأدبي وليست الحقيقة هنا أن اثنين واثنين تساوي أربعة. فمثل هذه الحقيقة لا تضاد منها في قراءتنا للأدب، ولكن يقصد بها ما يبدو مشابهاً للحقائق التي نلمسها في حياتنا اليومية، لأن إذا تماثلت الخبرات التي سجلها أثر أدبي وخبراتنا الفعلية التي استخلصناها من الحياة نميل إلى القول بأن هذا الأثر صادق. فالفن له حقيقته العليا التي هي أكثر إقناعاً وأسهل تصديقاً واحتمالاً من الحقيقة نفسها، وهذا طبيعي لأن للفنان من الحساسية والقدرة على التعبير ما ليس لغيره من الناس من تصادفهم نفس الأحداث التي تصادفه. ولذلك نجد هذه الظاهرة واضحة في قصائد "وليد الأعظمي" التي تتناول مشاكل أمته على ضوء ما وقر في قبله وعقله من مشاعر إسلامية متفاعلة مع الأحداث التي تقع في الوطن العربي والإسلامي، والتي يعيشها بكل حرارة وعنفوان، ويعبر عنها بكل جرأة وصدق بدافع من إيمانه العميق بكل ما يقوله وينظمه، فهو شاعر الحقائق-وليس بشاعر الشباب كما اشتهر-لأنه يتناول الحقائق بأسلوبه الأدبي الخاص فيهز المشاعر ويفجر العواطف، ويحلق بها في أجواء الإيمان الرحيبة ولا عجب في ذلك، لأنه يصدع بمعاني الإيمان والإسلام. ومهما تنساب الحقائق، ومن جداولهما تستقي رياض الإنسانية المتعطشة إلى الحق والخير والجمال، المتلهفة إلى ينابيع اليقين وهو إذا يقدم في قصائده "حقائقه" يأخذ بالألباب، دون أن يفرق في الخيال أو يتمادى من الرمز، بل يتناول معاني قصيدته من زاوية إحساسه ومشاعره، فيقدمها في إطار مقبول جميل، فيقول في قصيدته "الفريق الغريب"، فجعت لفرط فراقك الأخوان وتأججت بقلوبهم نيران، يا زهرة النسرين بللها الندى، ما ورد يا قداح يا ريحان، كالبلبل الجذلان كنت مفرداً تشدو فتطر بحولك الأغصان".
