وهو حصيلة الوقائع الكاملة لبحوث وتعقيبات ومناقشات الندوة الفكرية التي نظمها المركز بمدينة فاس في المغرب، خلال الفترة 23-26 نيسان/أبريل 2001. وقد شارك فيها حوالي المئة من الباحثين والمفكرين والسياسيين العرب من أنحاء الوطن العربي، وممن يمثلون اتجاهات مختلفة وأجيالاً ثلاثة. حاولت الأبحاث المشاركة الإجابة عن سؤالين: الأول هل للعرب مشروع نهضوي انتكس ولا يحتاج إلى أكثر من استئناف له، أم أن الأمر يتعلق بغياب مشروع عربي من هذا النوع، وبالحاجة تالياً إلى استيلاده؟ والثاني ما الذي يدعونا إلى الاعتقاد بأن هذا المشروع يحتاج – اليوم – إلى إعادة بناء لا استئناف؟ ويمثل هذا الكتاب محاولة جادّة لإقرار الأسس والعناصر التي يقوم عليها هذا المشروع النهضوي العربي، وهي ستة: - الوحدة العربية في مواجهة التجزئة - الديمقراطية في مواجهة الاستبداد - التنمية المستقلة في مواجهة النمو المشوّه والتبعية - العدالة الاجتماعية في مواجهة الاستغلال - الاستقلال الوطني والقومي في مواجهة الهيمنة الأجنبية والمشروع الصهيوني - الأصالة والتجدد الحضاري في مواجهة التغريب. يقسم الكتاب إلى ثلاثة أقسام، تضم ثلاثة عشر فصلاً: القسم الأول: "المشروع الحضاري النهضوي العربي: التعريف والبيئة". والثاني: "أهداف المشروع". والثالث: "استراتيجية تحقيق المشروع".
