يتناول هذا الكتاب بحثاً موضوعياً تحليلياً تربوياً لأسلوب التربية بالعبرة، الأسلوب التربوي القرآني النبوي، فيعرض على العقل والوجدان بعض أحداث الكون والتاريخ، بطريقة تحدث في الإنسان تغييراً نفسياً سلوكياً نتيجة لتأثره العقلي والوجداني بالعبرة بتلك الأحداث المتميزة، ويكشف عن سر هذا الأسلوب وطريقة ديناميكيته السيكولوجية، ويوضح معالمه ومراحله وآثاره النفسية والتربوية الواضحة في سلوك الذين اتبعوه، منذ أنزل القرآن إلى يومنا هذا. ويبرز الكتاب ظهور حركة جديدة في علم النفس تعترف بالعقل وترفض تفسير السلوك البشري بلغة الغرائز والدوافع الحيوانية، وتؤمن بالقيم الجمالية والأخلاقية، والجوانب الروحية والفكرية، ويكشف اللثام عن أساليب التربية بالقرآن للاعتبار بها أمام أجيال الإنسانية. ويعرّف الكتاب لمعنى اللغوي والقرآني للعبرة، ويضرب مثالاً على أسلوب التربية بالعبرة ويحلله تربوياً ببيان مراحل العبرة والمغزى وتحقيق الهدف. ويعرض أهم أصناف العبر الواردة في القرآن الكريم ومعاييرها، وأنواعها وتصنيفها بحسب موضوعها التاريخي والقصصي، وبحب أساليب عرضها وخصائصها. ويقدم التحليل النفسي للتربية بالعبرة والعوامل النفسية المكونة لها، والنتائج والآثار التربوية لأسلوبها. ويوضح أهدافها في البرهان على أن القرآن وحي من عند الله، والإيمان بالنصر من الله تعالى، والصبر على أذى الأعداء، والإيمان باليوم الآخر وتفضيل ثوابه على متاع الحياة الدنيا المؤقتة، وإيقاظ الفطرة الدينية وتربيتها، وتربية الشعور بربوبية الله وألوهيته، والدلالة التربوية للعبر.
