إن فكرة هذا الكتاب تتلخص في إظهار أن الخيانة الزوجية قديمة في تاريخ البشر الاجتماعي، وهي تحدث في كل مكان، ومن قبل بعض الرجال وبعض النساء، وهي حقيقة لا يجب تجاهلها، بل يجب العمل على بحثها، وتحليلها، ورصد أسبابها، ومعرفة دوافع القائم بها.
وسوف يجد القارئ والمهتم بالاطلاع على تلك المعلومات تفاصيل جديدة تخص الخيانة في المجتمعات البشرية وخصائصها وأسبابها ومتى تحدث بين زوجين، كان الحب يجمعهما... هذا في الفصل الأول من الكتاب، أما الفصل الثاني، فهو مركز بكامله على خيانة المرأة لزوجها، حيث سيشرح المؤلف الأسس النفسية لخيانة المرأة، وما هي شخصية المرأة الخائنة، مع ذكر نماذج عن خيانة المرأة.
وخصص الفصل السادس لمناقشة خيانة الرجل لزوجته، حيث يذكر المؤلف فيه العلاقة بين قدرة الرجل على الحب وخيانته لزوجته، ومن ثم شرح النماذج الأربعة التي تحدث فيها خيانة الرجل، مع ذكر تحليلي لأساليب كشف الخيانة وعواقب خيانة الرجل لزوجته. وأخيراً، في الفصل الرابع، ناقش المؤلف رأي الأديان السماوية الثلاثة، وخاصة رأي الإسلام في مسألة الخيانة الزوجية، شارحاً لرأي العلماء والفقهاء في أسبابها ودوافعها وعواقبها. وهدف المؤلف من كتابه هذا إظهار الخطأ الجسيم الذي يرتكبه من تسول له نفسه مخالفة تعاليم الله تعالى، والوقوع في إثم علاقة مدنسة، تضرّ الدين والمجتمع والأسرة.
