وفي الكتاب قصائد مشبعة بإرث الذاكرة تشي بالتنوع ونضج التجربة فقد تجسدت فيها شخوص أصدقاء الشاعر المغيبين وحضرت ذاكرة المعتقل السياسي وكذلك مأساة الحروب، وبدت امجموعة وكأنها استحضار للماضي البعيد وإعادة له للتمعن فيه بعد سنوات طويلة من التراكم، ليتشكل في منجز شعري ذي خصوصية شديدة، قارب خلاله هموم اجتماعية وسياسية عاشها هو وأبناء وطنه.
في قصيدة بعنوان "حتى في جوف الصخر" يقول الشاعر: "منذ البدء/ وأنا أتشبث باللحظة الرمادية تلك/ التي تعيد الجندي إلى ثكنته/ والميت إلى أناه/ هناك حقائق لا مرئية/ لكنها مائلة/ في ما يعرى من ضخرٍ/ وما يهرم من شجر/ كالموت(...)".
من عناوين الكتاب نذكر: "فيما قدماي موثقتان"، في خرائب أخرى"، "صلاة استغفار"، "مرثاة من أجل حميد الزيدي"...الخ.
