"كان "مجتمع العمرانية" – شأنه شأن المجتمع العماني- ذا ثقافة عبودية، ينتمي إلى رماد الفجائع القديمة، الماورائية، والعفوية. وبالرغم من التغييرات المهمة التي طرأت على المجتمع بعد انقلاب 1970 فإن ثقافة العبودية ظلت مهيمنة على تفاصيل المجتمع الجديد وأنسجته".
"سنوات النار" رواية في الأدب السياسي يتجول فيها الروائي أحمد الزبيدي "في خرائب العمرانية"، ومن فيها من العناصر القبلية الضيقة الأفق، عبر أصدقاء/ أبطال ثلاثة لم يفترقوا "سامر وقريبه حامد وأحمد" هكذا وضعهم في بداية الرواية قبل أن تطوق سيارات الشرطة المدججة بالسلاح والهراوات هؤلاء الأصدقاء الثلاثة، ويضعوهم في زنازين منفردة، وكل واحد منهم يسمع أنين الآخر ولا يعلم لماذا هو في ظلام السجن؟!
وهكذا تتحرك الرواية مداورة بين القهر الفردي والقهر المجتمعي، فتعري فيما تعري مظاهر الزيف والنفاق الإجتماعيين، وازدواجية المعايير، في علاقة الحاكم بالمحكوم والإنتقائية في ظلم العباد مما يطرح الكثير من الأسئلة حول مشروعية الحكومات وصلاحياتها في ظل ديقراطيات مزيفة؟!
وكما فراشة (الفلج) في البرزخ كنت تنوسين وفي سديم وهناك في جون العشاق راقصت الغمام وكنت كما كنت دوما سيدة البراري أحمد الزبيدي
