فهد العتيق (مواليد 1960، الرياض) قاص وروائي سعودي. نُشر له ثمانية كتب سردية مطبوعة، كتب ونشر في الصحف والمجلات الثقافية العربية مقالات ثقافية وقراءت نقدية في الروايات العربية والعالمية, تُرجمت بعض قصصه إلى الإنجليزية والفرنسية عام 1993 عن طريق مجلة لوتس. كتب بعض الأدباء والنقاد العرب عن قصصه (إذعان صغير) و(أظافر صغيرة) في الصحف العربية باعتبارها من التجارب القصصية الناضجة على المستوى العربي, ترجمت الجامعة الأمريكية بالقاهرة روايته كائن مؤجل إلى اللغة الإنجليزية عام 2012م وصدرت في كتاب في كتاب موجود في المكتبات بعنوان life on hold.

نص فهد العتيق، في عمله القصصي (أظافر صغيرة.. وناعمة) ملتبس، والالتباس هنا يطاول المضمون كما الأسلوب حاملاً المجموعة القصصية إلى مرتبة تلامس عتبة الأدب الرفيع، بل أخالها تطأ هذه العتبة. في بعض مقطوعاته استخدام العتيق ضمير الغائب في سرده مشفوعاً بتداع دافق للأفكار جعل العمل يذكرنا بأسلوب جيمس جويس، وجعلنا نتذكر عمل الأخير المعنون (سكان دبلن)، والعتيق قد يرمي أساساً إلى أن يرتفع بالمعيش إلى جو شبه ملحمي، سواء بوصفه البانورامي أو باستخدامه المتكرر لكمات "الأسطوري" و"الأسطورة" و"القدر". ومن هنا فإن جواً واحداً من الانكسار القدري يلف كامل العم ويجمعه إلى بعضه حتى يكاد يقربه ككل من (الرواية القصيرة)، وهو لو ملك الجرأة لأسماه رواية، وماذا يمنع ذلك؟ فالرواية الحديثة باتت كائناً حراً ينمو سواء بالحدث أو بالشخصية أو الجو أو التداعي، وهي ابنة الأزمة الحديثة، تتغير وتتحرر بتبدلها، ومع انفتاح النصوص والأنواع الأدبية وتجاور عناصرها المختلفة، في ما بعد الحداثة، قد يمكن لهذا العمل الانتماء إلى الرواية، سيما وأنه، في الرواية الحديثة، لم يبق خيط السرد المتصاعد معيارً أساسياً للحكم على انتساب العمل إلى عالم الرواية. ثمة جوّ أصيل وخاص يلف العمل من أوله إلى نهايته.
