كنت أفكر في شراء مرآة جديدة، لست أدري كيف اعتقدت أن مرآة المغسلة مشروخة، أتقدّم بالشكر إلى محبوبتي (سهام) لأنها جعلتني أوفّر قيمة المرآة الجديدة عندما صارحتني همساً بان في وجهي شرخاً يمتد من جبهتي وحتى ارنفة أنفي.. يرحمهُ الله! بين زلزال وآخر كانت ثمة شظايا دقيقة الحجم جداً تهلّ من وجهي ذي الإصفرار الخريفي، لا أحد يدرك مقدار الهلع المروّع الذي ينهشُ إنساناً ما بدأ يفقد ملامح وجهه تدريجياً. *** إن أثقل شيء حمله الإنسان هو السر. وأنا صرت طريح الفراش محموماً على وشك الانهيار. والأطباء لاحظو الأعراض الغريبة التي انتابتني، وخصوصاً استشراء البقعة السوداء في الجزء الأيمن من وجهي، ونصحوني بأن اتخلّص من سرّي بأسرع ما يمكن قبل أن يسبّب لي الوفاة.
