خالد البسام كاتب ومؤرخ بحريني، ولد في عنيزة في تاريخ 18 نوفمبر عام 1956م. صدرت له الكثير من المؤلفات في تاريخ البحرين والخليج العربي، إضافة إلى إصدارات عديدة تنوعت بين الرواية وسير الأعلام والسياسة. وتوفي عام 2015م.

يحاول الكاتب الصحفي البحراني (خالد البسام)، في كتابه الجديد هذا، أن يختصر الكلام من خلال اختيار هذا العنوان الدال (بساتين)، الذي يوحي بالخفة والرشاقة، ليتيح للقارئ التنقل بين الأفكار تنقله بين الأزهار.
فالبساتين تعدنا بأكثر من نزهة بين الظلال الوارفة والأطياب الندية والخمائل الباهرة، وفي البستان وحده، حيث يبدو المكان أكثر اقتراباً من الجنة، يتخفف الكائن من الكلام، ويغدو أكر فردوسية واسترخاءً والتحاماً بالأشياء وتفاصيلها ونمنماتها الصغيرة، وأكثر إطلالاً على المعنى وظلاله الممتدة في الزمان والمكان.
"الطيبة الجميلة"، "المغازلة مفيدة"، "اصطياد الأثرياء"، "ملكة النميمة"، "بيجامة الكتابة"، "تكتيك الغوريللا"، "أحمد ملوخية"، "دراسة الغرام"... تلك بعض عناوين الفصول التي يضمها هذا الكتاب، الذي نرجو أن تكون النزهة نافعة وممتعة.
