"ثمن السِّلم" بشجاعةٍ روحٍ عقدت الصلحَ مع نفسها ومع محيطها، تواجهُ الكاتبة والسياسية ترايسي شمعون، في "ثمن السِّلم"، أوجاع الماضي وإستحقاقات الحاضر. هنا لبنانيّة لا تتبرّأ من الماضي الدامي للوطن، ولا من مأساتِها الشخصيّة، بل تعود وتحفر فيهما، تقول ما لها وما عليها، لنجدّ في النهاية كنز التخفّفِ من عبءٍ الإرث الموجع. يشكّل نصّ شمعون، الأدبي - السياسي، رسالة تسامحٍ ودعوة إلى الإنفتاح والسلام والمغفرة، رغم ما يتخلّله من آلام الخيانة والفقد والإغتراب. بهذا المعنى، تصبح الكتابة وسيلة للتطهّر والخلاص، وتتحوّل الأحداثُ من حقائق تحكُم سلوكنا وطبيعتنا إلى عناوين، تنسحب إلى الخلفيّة، فتخلفُ مساحة للتأمّل. بعد تلك الراحلة التنقيبيّة، داخل النفس وفي أزقّة الواسع السياسي المحلّي والعالمي، تؤكّد الكاتبة أنّ الحرب التي ذاق لبنان لوعتّها بسبب هشاشته الطائفيّة، ليست هل الحلّ، وتدعو اللبنانيّين إلى عدم الإنجرار في دوّامة التطرّف الديني والأيديولوجي التي تهدّد المنطقة. "ثمن السِّلم" ليس سيرة ذاتية بل سيرة شعب كامل، تقدّم ترايسي شمعون من خلالِها رؤيتها السياسيّة وخلاصة تجربتها الإنسانيّة في قالبٍ سرديٍّ مؤثِّر.
