ثلاثون نصّاً بعناوين مستقلّة تضمنها كتاب نعيم الخطيب ، إضافةً إلى ثلاثة نصوص بعنوان "على الغارب" ثبتّه عنواناً جامعاً للبقيّة وللكتاب الذي جعل عنوانه الشارح في الداخل: "في سرد الذات". والذات ، كما نعرف ، لا تكون هي ذاتها لحظة أن يبدأ صاحبها بالكتابة إنطلاقاً منها ، أو عنها: إذ تتحوّل إلى موضوع يتعرض للمعاينة من خلال مجموعة اللقطات المكتوبة. وتلك اللقطات في "على الغارب" تتراوح بين سرد حكايات ذات دلالات ، ومجموعة تأملات لداخل الذات ولخارجها في آن. تتميّز النصوص بعمقْ ثقافي وتمت كتابتها بلغةْ لم تبتعد عن شفافيّة الشعر وإيحاءاته. وهي بقدر ما تناولت الشؤون الخاصّة بكاتبها ، جاءت لتنيرَ فضاءات فلسطين تحت الاحتلال ، ومن داخل الحياة اليومية التي استطاع نعيم الخطيب تكثيف معانيها وتقطيرها في نصوصْ لافتة حقاً. " المظاهرات الطلابيّة في جامعة بيرزيت كانت دائماً تبدأ بنفس المنوال: أهازيج وطنية في انتظار قدوم الجيش ، مناوشات في مدخل البلدة ، وتنتهي بنفس المنوال أيضاً: استشهاد طالب من أحد مخيمات غزة (جنوبه غالباً) ، وجبة ساخنة في مطبخ الحرم القديم ، مفاوضات أ.غ. مع الجيش ، إغلاق يستمر لأربعة أشهر في أفضل الظروف." ومن نصّْ آخر يتصل بسابقه: "داهم الجيش بيت عزاء لزميلنا في الجامعة ، فتبعثرنا في شوارع الشابورة. شوارع المخيم يجب أن تحفظها لتحفظك. وقد يتطلّب الأمر أكثر من خارطة تصوير جوي كتلك التي يفترشها الجنود حديثو الخدمة قبل أن تمطرهم معالمها بحجارة لا تعترف بالإحداثيات ولا بمقياس الرسم."
