جاء هذا الكتاب ليبين مفهوم الإبتسامة من الجانب الديني والعلمي، حيث أرصد فيه المؤلف بعض ما توصل إليه العرب والغرب من دراسات وأبحاث عن الإبتسامة، وبدأ بتعريف الإبتسامة وماهية لغة الإبتسامة وعلاقة الإسلام بالإبتسامة، ثم بين أبرز الدراسات العلمية التي تناولت أهمية الإبتسامة، وسردت أنواع الإبتسامة ونظرية دوشتيني وموقف علماء النفس من الإبتسامة وفوائد الإبتسامة وثمنها.
ثم وضح موقف المعادين للإبتسامة، وذكر معلومات خاصة عن الإبتسامة وحقائق مثيرة عنها، وكيف للمرء أن يكتشف الإبتسامة الزائفة، ثم عرج على وظائف الإبتسامة وإبتسامة المرأة والرضيع وكيف أن تكون الإبتسامة معدية.
