إن أشرف العلوم من جميع الجهات هو علم التوحيد والصفات، إذ العقائد اليقينية هي أصل الدين، وبها يحصل للمؤمن الموقن اليقين.
وأيضاً جهات شرف العلم أربع: شرف معلومه، وشرف حججه، وشرف مسائله، وشرف غايته، وهذا العلم يشملها، فإن معلومه يتناول مباحث الذات والصفات، وحججه الدلائل العقلية والنقلية التي قد اتفقت عليها علماء الشريعة، ومسائله مشتملة على أحكام الدين، صادرة من رسول رب العالمين، وأما غايته فالخلاص من الأقوال الباطلة والمذاهب العاطلة والفوز بسعادة الدارين.
وقد صنَّف العلماء من السلف والخلف في هذا العلم كتباً ورسائل، بعضها مفصل غاية التفصيل، وبعضها مجمل غاية الإجمال، ومن هذه الكتب، الكتاب الذي بين أيدينا وهو شرح القصيدة النونية لخضر بيك ابن الجلال، وشارحها هو الإمام الكليسي، ولأهمية هذا الكتاب، وندرة وجوده بين طلبة العلم الشريف، تم الإعتناء بتحقيقه على نسخة طبعت قديماً.
وتلخص العمل في الكتاب في الآتي: "تقويم النص، وضبطه، وترقيم فقراته"، "تخريج الآيات الواردة في هذا الشرح"، "تخريج الأحاديث الواردة في هذا الشرح"، "التعليق على بعض المواضع المشكلة".
