مسرحية شعرية من روائع المسرح الإليزابيثى ، كتبها كريستوفر مارلو ، وهو من اهم شعراء المسرح الإنجليزى.
وهى معالجة مسرحية لثلاثية إيسخيلوس أوريستييا التى تحكى عن الأمير الذى قتل أمه وعشيقها اللذين تآمرا على قتل أبيه.
وقد كتب ويليام شكسبير مسرحية هاملت على نهج غدوارد الثانى : وليست هذه هى المرة الأولى التى يقتفى شكسبير أثر مارلو فى المسرح الشعرى ، بل سبقتها أعمال أخرى ، مثل قصيدة فينوس وآدونيس التى سار فيها على منهج هيرو وليندر لمارلو ، وكذلك قلد فى مسرحيته تاجر البندقية مارلو فى مسرحيته مأساة يهودى مالطة.
ويتميز مسرح مارلو بالحبكة المسرحية المشوقة ، والحوار البناء والتراكيب اللغوية المتنوعة ، والصور الفنية البليغة والإيقاعات الشعرية الموسيقية ، والبساطة فى التعبير ، والعمق فى التفكير ، واتساع الرؤية والمعالجات الأسطورية الرائعة غير المسبوقة.
