لقد وجدت فراغا بخزانتنا المغربية في موضوع التاريخ العسكري المغربي الذي لم يعره بعض مؤرخينا كثيرا من الاهتمام، فأخذت على عاتقي البحث في هذا الجانب الهام من تاريخنا المجيد وأتيت فيه بدراسة لا أقول عنها وافية بل ما زال موضوعنا في حاجة إلى كثير من الباحثين والمؤرخين وأصحاب الخبرة في الفنون العسكرية ليكتبوا حوله دراسات شاملة ناضجة. وحسبي أن أبدأ وأقدم لطلاب معاهدنا العسكرية وضباط وجنود قواتنا المسلحة الملكية والمهتمين بالتاريخ الحربي والعسكري للمغرب هذا الكتاب المتواضع آملا أن يكون حلقة وصل بين ماضي جيشنا الزاهر وحاضره الباسم ويظهر لجنود المغرب في الحرب وجنوده في السلم أن مبدأنا الخالد وهدفنا المقدس كان ولن يزال هو هو : الله - الوطن - الملك.
