ولد إيفان باديرين عام 1918 في عائلة عامل منجم بمنطقة "يوغوسلاف" في محافظة " كيميروفو" . لقد تجح الكاتب بهذه الرواية في الكشف عن مضمون الحرب التي خاضتها بلاد السوفييت ضد الالمان الفاشية اعتمادا على مصائر ابطاله الواقعيين,وكذا على افعالهم ,باعتبارها حرب شعبية وطنية بحق. كرست الوحدة الوطنية تصديا بوجه الفاشست كما لم يسبق لذلك مثيل, وجعلت كل شبر من الأرض جبهة حقيقة ضد العدو . لذلك نجد منجك غورماتوفا - حيث يعيش ويكدح ببطولة منقبوا الذهب من عائلة كوريوكوف وغيرهم , ممن عمل مضاعفة عن نفسه ونيابة عن الذاهبين الى الجبهة-البعيد الألاف الفيرستات عن خطوط الجبهة في صلب سياق الأحداث الجارية. فستتسشعر ثمة انفاس المواقع الامامية المجابهة للعدو,فأن خط الجبهة يمر هنا ايضا عبر مصائر وقلوب الناس .
