يعد النوخذة عبد الوهاب عبد الرحمن العسعوسي من أكثر نواخذة البحر سفرا إذ تعددت رحلاته عبر بحر العرب والمحيط الهندي، وكان شديد الحرص على تسجيل جميع رحلاته والاحتفاظ بها، ومنها هذه الروزنامة التي تتضمن إحدى عشرة سفرة من سفراته العديدة، وقد التحق بالعمل على سفن السفر في سن مبكرة قبل أن يتجاوز السابعة عشرة، عمل مع عمه وبعض أفراد أسرته الذين اشتهروا في هذا المجال، قام بأول سفرة له في عام 1351هـ - 1932م وكانت آخر سفرة له في عام 1371هـ - 1952م. وتنوعت السفن التي كان يبحر عليها والتي كان من أشهرها بوم "فتح الخير" الذي استمر يبحر عليه لمدة ثماني سنوات بين الكويت وبحر العرب وسواحل إفريقيا والهند. وتمتاز هذه الروزنامة بتعدد الرحلات التي تتضمنها وتنوعها، وترينا إلى أي مدى كانت قدرة هذا النوخذة على القيادة والتمكن من فنون الملاحة والإلمام بطرق السفر والمواني الكبيرة والصغيرة التي كان خبيرا بمسالكها ومياهها وتياراتها في المواسم المختلفة.
