لقد نهض الإسلام بالمرأة ورفع شأنها، وكان أثرها في تكوين الرجال وتصريف حوادثه اشبه ما يكون بأثر الغدير الهادئ الفياض في زهر الحدائق والبساتين. وفي قراءة في صفحات تاريخنا العربي سنجد أن المرأة العربية في جاهليتها وإسلامها سجلت أروع الصفحات بعظائم الأمور مع مشاركتها للرجل في سياسة الأمة، وولاية الأمر، وجد العمل، ومختلف شؤون الحياة... وكانت مع ذلك تستقبل الوجود بعواطف فياضة، يظهر أثر ذلك في قلبها الخفاق الذي يفهم ويعي ويدرك الأمور بذكاء وشفافية وفي هذا الكتاب موضوعات متعددة عن المرأة منذ حواء أم البشر إلى المرأة في عالمنا المعاصر. ولم يغفل الكتاب تاريخ المرأة في العالم الغربي والعالم العربي الإسلامي-قديماً وحديثاً-وذلك من بعض الجوانب الدينية والاجتماعية، والعادات والتقاليد التي كانت تخضع لها في تلك الأزمنة، وتلك المجتمعات.
كما حوى الكتاب قصصاً تاريخية واقعية لها صلة بالمرأة لتكون خير شاهد على ما ذهب المؤلف إليه في أن رفعة شأن المرأة وعلوّ قدرها ومكانتها التي وصلت إليها إنما يعود ذلك كله إلى النبي صلى الله عليه وسلم الذي كان في سيرته وسنته القولية والفعلية حضّ على إعلاء قدر المرأة وتأكيد حقوقها كأم وأخت وعمة وخالة وزوجة وإنسانة. فالنبي صلى الله عليه وسلم هو الذي أنصف المرأة قولاً وفعلاً، وهذا ما سيتوضح للقارئ من خلال قراءته في هذا الكتاب.
