يحكى أن ملكاً من الملوك وهبه الله تعالى أموالاً طائلة، وذهباً وفضة، وحدائق غناء غنية بالثمار اللذيذة والفاكهة الشهية. وكان الحرب والجنود يحيطون به من كل ناحية، يحرسون ثروته وحدائقه. وكان من بين العاملين عنده العم صالح البستاني الذي كان يهتم بالمزروعات يسويها ويرويها، ويراقب نموها، ويشرف على حصادها ومحصولها. وفي يوم من الأيام جاء العم صالح إلى الملك مسرعاً وهو يلهث إعياء. فقال له الملك: ما الذي حدث أيها البستاني؟! فقال العم صالح: حدث أمر عجيب يا مولاي؟! تعجب الملك من كلام العم صالح وسأله في حدة: ما هذا الأمر العجيب يا رجل؟!
