ذا الكتاب هو محاولة لإبراز بعض مباديء التلمذة. رأى بعضنا هذه المباديء في كلمة الله منذ سنوات، ولكن وصل إلى قرار في نفسه أن هذه المباديء متزمتة جداً، وغير عملية في عصر معقد نعيش فية اليوم. وهكذا نستسلم لبيئة الحياة الروحية الباردة. بعد ذلك نتقابل مع مجموعة من لامؤمنين الشباب الذين عقدو العزم ليبرهنوا أن شروط التلمذة التي وضعها المخلص ليست فقط عملية جداً، بل وأنها الشروط الوحيدة التي ستؤدي الي توصيل البشارة الي العالم. ونحن نعترف أننا مديونون لهؤلاء الشباب الذين زودونا بل المثال الحي لكثير من الحقائق التي أبرزناها هنا. ولأن هذه الحقائق مازالت ابعد من أن نكون قد اختبرناها؛ فنحن نعرضها في هذه الطبعة (المزيدة والمنقحة ) من هذا الكتاب، وقلوبنا مشتاقة لرؤيتها بحياتنا إذ أنا المسيحية الحقيقية هي تسليم كلي تام للرب يسوع المسيح؛ فالمخلص لايبحث عن رجال ونساء يعطونه أوقات فراغهم المسائية، أو عطلة نهاية الأسبوع، أو سنين تقاعدهم؛ بل بالحري يبحث عن أناس يعطونه المكان الأول في حياتهم .
