من نافلة القول أن القصة قديمة قدم الإنسانية. ويعتقد أن شعوب ما قبل التاريخ، تداولوا فيما بينهم الأساطير والخرافات، وتوارثوها جيلاً بعد جيل. من خلال الرواية الشفهية والرسوم. هذا وإن للقصة أهداف مباشرة وهي إيجاد نوع من التسلية والمتعة للقارئ وأهداف بعيدة تتجلى في أحداث عملية تغيير في الذات الإنسانية. وبتعبير القاص والروائي السوري حنا مينه "يمكننا القول أن القصة القصيرة، كغيرها من الأجناس الأدبية والفنية، تغدو الأداة الأقوى في التغير المنتظر، التغير الذي لا بد منه". من هنا يمكن القول بأن قصص وحكايات الإمام الشيرازي جاءت في هذا الإطار. فلا شك أن الإمام كان يهدف إيجاد نوع من التسلية والمتعة للقارئ، إلا أنه وضع على رأس هذه الأولويات تحقيق نقلة نوعية في حياته، فهو يتفيا إحداث عملية التغير في أبعادها الحضارية المختلفة، فالإمام الشيرازي إنما يكتب من أجل إستنهاف الأمة ورقيّها، لعلمه بأن الكاتب الإسلامي يقوم بأداء دور كبير في مجتمعه، فهو أداة الوعي الديني والسياسي والثقافي في الأمة وبه تناط مسؤولية تعبيد الطريق وإزالة العقبات والتراكمات التي تحول دون تقدم الأمة. إذن فعندما يختار الإمام الشيرازي الأسلوب القصصي في الكثير من كتاباته، فإنما يختار هذا الأسلوب، لأنه يعلم أن للقصة تأثيرها الكبير في النفوس، إذ يرى أن "الثقافة تصنع المعاجز". هذا وإن مميزات قصص الإمام الشيرازي وحكاياته في هذه الموسوعة:1-أنها مكتوبة بلغة سهلة واضحة، بها قدر من التشويق والمتعة.2-أنها تحمل فكرة أو أفكاراً مباشرة، تدفع القارئ نحو فعل شيء أو ترك شيء.3-أنها تسهم في توعية المتلقي، وتعليمه، ورفع مستواه الثقافي.4-أنها واقعية في معظمها، وربما ماهو موجه منها للناشئة.5-أنه المصدر الأول في الكثير منها، خاصة تلك تتضمن تجاربه الشخصية، وكذا تجارب وقصص الكثير من الشخصيات الدينية والسياسية والإجتماعية و…التي يرويها بدون واسطة عنهم.6-أنها مسطرة، وفي معظمها، بقلمه ومفرداته الخاصة، حيث يتضح للقارئ لنتاجه أنه يسجل الكثير منها إعتماداً على ذاكرته في معظم الأحيان. أخيراً فإن هذه الموسوعة القصصية إنما تعكس ملمحاً بسيطاً من إستراقات الإمام الشيرازي المتجددة التي مازالت تنير الطريق بالنور والضياء، لمن أراد الوصول لشاطئ السعادة والسلام.
