إن إعادة صياغة نمطية التعليم لتواكب الطفرة في طريقة تفكير العقل البشري لهذا الجيل، الذي يشهد انتشار الحواسيب واستخدام الإنترنت، أصبحت من أهم التحديات التي تجابه المجتمعات في مجال التعليم. فالتعليم التقليدي لا يتناسب مع الأجيال القادمة. لذا لا بدّ من تأسيس نظام تعليمي تقني ومهني مصمم حسب معايير الصناعة والتعليم العالمية لتنمية الاقتصاد المعرفي. استعرضت الدراسة واقع التعليم الحكومي في دولة الإمارات العربية المتحدة مع التركيز على مرحلة التعليم الثانوي وبينت الخلل الذي يعتري بعض جوانبه. وقام المؤلف بعد مراجعة مختلف أنظمة التعليم في الدول الصناعية المتقدمة ذات الاقتصاد المعرفي ومنها سنغافورة وألمانيا، بوضع تصور عام لعلاج الخلل الحالي في نظام التعليم بالدولة من خلال إعادة هيكلة نظام التعليم الثانوي في خطة تشمل: أولاً: توسيع رقعة التعليم التكنولوجي والفني، وثانياً، إصلاح التعليم الدراسي الأكاديمي ليوفر للطلاب فرص اختيار المواد مع التركيز على العلوم الطبيعية. وقد عرضت الدراسة تجربة معهد التكنولوجيا التطبيقية في دولة الإمارات العربية المتحدة، بوصفها تجربة عملية ذات مخرجات تعليمية وتؤهل كوادر وطنية قادرة بالفعل على ترجمة الرؤية الاقتصادية لأبوظبي 2030.
