الكتاب من تقديم علاء الأسواني. تحولت الأرض الفضاء أمام وحول الأجزخانة إلى معسكر دائم لنساء القرية فى انتظار رن جرس التليفون، وتحولت الاجزخانة إلى سنترال مؤقت. عندما يرن جرس التليفون ، يقفن جميعًا، ثم يتسابقن إلى داخل الأجزخانة، وكل منهن يحدوها الأمل فى أن هذا الاتصال سيكون من نصيبها؛ فقد يكون من زوجها أو ابنها أو أخيها أو أبيها، ثم يرجعن منكسرات للجلوس أمام الأجزخانة عندما يسمعوننى أجيب على ابنتى أو أحد مندوبى شركات الأدوية. لم توجه أحلامها نحو العاصمة وسكانها .. لم تحلم بالمال الوفير الذي تجنيه من صيدلية تقع في أحياء القاهرة ، إنما تخرجت من الكلية وإرتحلت إلي حيث يحتاجها الناس حقا .. إناس بسطاء لا يشعر بهم المسئولون ، خارج دائرة الضوء ولكنهم لا يعترضون .. هذه هي الدكتورة " الصيدلانية" " كريمة الحفناوي " وهؤلاء هم أهالي قرية " برنشت " أو أي قرية مصرية أخري .. وهذا الكتاب هو ما يجمع يومياتهم معا ... يوميات طبيبة عاشت في القرية فعايشت آلامها قبل أحلامها ، نقلتها لنا علي تلك الصفحات لتعرض علينا واقعا قريبا منا بحكم وجوده داخل حدود بلادنا ، ولكنه بعيدا جدا عن مدار أهتمامنا .. إنها صفحات تقترب بنا من عالم القرية لتطلعنا علي ما ينوء به وتدخلنا إلي مداره في يوميات صيدلانية .
