عقدت في رحاب مجمع اللغة العربية بدمشق في المدة من 22/10 حتى مساء 25/10/2000 م ندوة عنوانها: (ندوة اللغة العربية والتعليم) أقامها المجمع بالتعاون مع وزارة التعليم العالي ووزارة التربية بدمشق، وقد شارك في هذه الندوة نحو من اثنين وعشرين باحثاً من القطر العربي السوري، وألقيت فيها بحوث في إطار ستة محاور، تناولت مشكلات تعليم اللغة العربية، وما تعانيه من ضعف على لسان أبنائها في المؤسسات العلمية والجامعات ووسائل الإعلام. المحور الأول: المناهج (الواقع والآفاق) ويشتمل على ستة بحوث. المحور الثاني: أساليب تدريس العربية، ويشتمل على ستة بحوث. المحور الثالث: معلم العربية ومدرسها، ويشتمل على خمسة بحوث. المحور الرابع: الكتاب المدرسي والكتاب الجامعي، ويشتمل على سبعة بحوث. المحور الخامس: تدريس اللغة العربية لغير المختصين، ولغير الناطقين بها، ويشتمل على ثلاثة بحوث. المحور السادس: العوامل الخارجية المؤثرة في تعليم اللغة العربية وتعلمها، ويشتمل على خمسة بحوث. وفي هدي البحوث الملقاة والمناقشات التي دارت حولها، أعدت لجنة الصياغة في الندوة تقريراً يشتمل على ما انتهت إليه من توصيات. وقد نوقشت هذه التوصيات في الجلسة الختامية، وأقرت صيغتها النهائية.
