تأتي رواية "مغامرة غامضة" للأديب السنغالي "حميدو كان" من ضمن مجموعة أعمال أدبية، ظهرت في العالم الثالث بحثت في مسألة الهوية والتحديات التي تواجهها. وفي هذا العمل يأخذنا "حميدو كان" إلى مفصل تاريخي مهم من تاريخ بلاده الإجتماعي والسياسي في ستينيات القرن الماضي، حيث كان التمييز العنصري على أشده والذي يذكرنا بحركات التحرر الشعبي والتعبير الأكثر دلالة على كلمة "زنوجة" حيث أصبحت الكلمة فيما بعد رمزاً للدفاع عن القضية الزنجية والكلمة المرادفة للحرية، ولكن، لا بد أن نعلم أن هذه الكلمة لم تلقَ تجاوباً لدى الشعوب الأفريقية المستقلة في بداية الأمر، إذ وجد المفكرون والأدباء حاجزاً بينهم وبين هذه الشعوب التي لم تكن على استعداد لخوض معركة عرقية، وهكذا بدأت أهمية الكلمة تضمحل منذ عام 1961م عندما صرح "حميدو كان" بلسان بطله في "مغامرة غامضة": "أنا لا أحب كلمة زنوجة ولا أعرف ماذا تخفي وراءها. وهكذا لم نعد نرى الزنجي في هذا العمل الأدبي في موقع الدفاع عن ذاته، بل تجاوزه للبحث عن مفهوم العدالة والحرية بشكله الأعم والأوسع.
سوف نقرأ ما بين السطور، تلك الإشكالية القائمة ما بين السياسي والديني، نذهب معاً في سفر طويل عبر عواصم "بلاد الديابولي" الفريقية حيث تدور أحداث الرواية بين المعلم والتلاميذ في محاورة فكرية يهدف من ورائها الكاتب إلى تبيان كيفية استغلال العامل الديني في إخضاع الناس واستغلالهم، يقول المعلم: " ... إذا ضمن الله انتصارهم علينا، فإنه حسب الظاهر أنه نحن عباده المتحمسون أغضبناه، لقد حكم عباد الله طويلاً العالم، فهل فعلوا ذلك طبقاً لشريعته؟ لا أعلم ... علمت أن في بلاد البيض الثورة ضد البؤس لا تميز عن الثورة ضد الله ...".
