عمل كصحفي متعاون مع صحيفة الجزيرة ثم مجلة الشرق كصحفي يبحث عن الانتعاق ..
كتب في المجلة العربية وصحيفة المدينة والبلاد والرياض حاز على جائزة تسلمها من سمو الأمير سلمان بن عبد العزيز للمركز الاول لأفضل قاص عام 2001 في صحيفة الرياض

كالرحيق الأندر بين العطور، يمتلك "إبراهيم محمد النملة" ما يكفيه من أمطار الكلماتن ليحلق في فضاءات الذات، ويكتب عنها نصوصاً بعضها لا يتجاوز السطر؛ وبعضها آخر صفحات تضج بالمعاني، التي تلون حياة الإنسان، من منظور إنساني يتجاوز هموم الذات إلى آفاق أسمى وأرحب. تحت عنوان [مستحيل] نقرأ: "قلت لها: لقاؤنا صعب... كحلم شاردٍ، راودني ذات مساء، أن أكنس نفوس البشر في مدينتي من السواد، وأن أعود لداري، دون أن ألتفت إلى الوراء، وأن أرى الخطأ وأشير إليه بيدي، وأن أرى الحق الصواب، واصفق له، حينئذ سيكون لقاؤنا... لم تنبس ببنت شفةٍ، غادرتني، حويت صمتها بأذني، ليقول لي: إن المستحيل لا يبحث عن المستحيل!...". عناوين الكتاب: الصور العشر، حكايات عشقي، أي الكلمات تخون؟!، أحلامي نقطة آخر السطر، رسالة لم يقرأها غيري، حين تصضيع الخطوة...إلخ.
