تعالج قصص المجموعة مظاهر مجتمعية متعددة في الواقع السعودي، منها أسلوب التعليم على سبيل المثال ففي إحدى قصص المجموعة (موعد اختبار) يبين الروائي الكيفية التي يتعامل بها الأستاذ مع تلاميذه " ... وفي سخرية مريرة صاح بنا أحد الدكاترة الكرام: هيا، أجيبوا قبل أن أستبدل بهذه الأسئلة أسئلة النحو والصرف!/ ولأن اللخبطة التي حصلت كانت مزعجة ومؤلمة لي، فقد طار من رأسي نصف ما استذكرته من المنهج، وبقي لدي نصفه، فأجبت عن نصف الأسئلة، وخرجت من مقر الإمتحان متذكراً المقولة الشعبية القديمة: "الفكة من جحا غنيمة"! ومتذكراً الحديث: أرض بما قسم الله لك تكن أغنى الناس ! ..." وهكذا عبر هذا الفضاء الروائي ينهض خطاب له مواصفاته الخاصة، سواء على مستوى السرد أو الحوار أو اللغة، فنتج عن ذلك نسيج روائي متعدد الألوان، يعكس روح المجتمع الذي يتناوله الروائي وهو فضاء روائياً خصباً تتشابك أحداثه، وتكثر شخصياته، فتكون "حكاية موعد" في مستوى الكلام حين يجدّ.
يضم الكتاب (13) قصة قصيرة نذكر من عناوينها: "لنبدأ" ، "أبي في العناية المركزة" ، "إثنان في واحد" ، "المتسول"، ... الخ.
