هو مجموعة مقالات نشرها في مجلة "العربي" الكويتية خلال عامي 1994 و1995، بلغ عددها عشرين مقالا، وصدرت مؤخرا في سلسلة "كتاب العربي" بالكويت (العدد 62). ولم تخضع للتراتب الزمني للنشر داخل الكتاب، ولكن خضعت لمنهجية التسلسل والترابط المنطقي للموضوعات، بدءا من النموذج الأصلي للشاعر، وانتهاء بتراتب الأنواع الأدبية، ومع التدرج في قراءة المقالات العشرين، يبدأ دور الشاعر وأهميته في النظام المديني للمجتمع، أو في النظام البطريركي للسلطة، في الانحسار تدريجيا، في حين يبدأ صعود دور الكاتب، في هذا النظام، ونخص كاتب السلطة، أو كاتب الملك الذي يأمر عنه وينهي ويخاطب، وهي وظيفة لم تكن موجودة في النظام القبلي. قبل هذا يكتب د. عصفور مقدمة ضافية لمقالاته أخذت عنوان الكتاب، أو سُمي الكتاب على اسمها "غواية التراث"، بدأها بقوله: "أغواني طه حسين ـ ولا يزال ـ بقراءة التراث الأدبي من منظور الزمن الذي أعيش فيه، والذي يتجاوب مع الأصيل من التراث، لأنه ينطوي على القيمة الإنسانية التي تصلنا به، وتصله بنا".
