ولد في قرية ليوا جنوب بلاد الجزائر عام 1921م ، وفي بلدته نشأ وتلقى علومه الأولية ، وبدأ بحفظ القرآن الكريم وبعض المتون في اللغة والفقه المالكي ، ثم انتقل إلى مدينة بسكرة ، ودرس على مشايخها جملة من العلوم النقلية والعقلية التي أهلته للتدريس في إحدى المدارس الأهلية، ثم ارتحل مع أسرته إلى المدينة المنورة ، وفي المسجد النبوي الشريف استأنف طريق Shaykh Abu Bakr Al-Jaza'iry

ولد في قرية ليوا جنوب بلاد الجزائر عام 1921م ، وفي بلدته نشأ وتلقى علومه الأولية ، وبدأ بحفظ القرآن الكريم وبعض المتون في اللغة والفقه المالكي ، ثم انتقل إلى مدينة بسكرة ، ودرس على مشايخها جملة من العلوم النقلية والعقلية التي أهلته للتدريس في إحدى المدارس الأهلية، ثم ارتحل مع أسرته إلى المدينة المنورة ، وفي المسجد النبوي الشريف استأنف طريقه العلمي بالجلوس إلى حلقات العلماء والمشايخ حيث حصل بعدها على إجازة من رئاسة القضاء بمكة المكرمة للتدريس في المسجد النبوي فأصبحت له حلقة يدرس فيها تفسير القرآن الكريم والحديث الشريف وغير ذلك، كما عمل مدرساً في بعض مدارس وزارة المعارف وفي دار الحديث في المدينة المنورة وعندما فتحت الجامعة الإسلامية أبوابها عام 1380هـ كان من أوائل أساتذتها والمدرسين فيها وبقي فيها حتى أحيل إلى التقاعد عام 1406هـ.
صاحب الترجمة أحد العلماء النشطين الذين لهم جهودهم الدعوية في الكثير من البلاد التي زارها وما يزال حتى إعداد هذه الترجمة يقوم بالوعظ والتدريس في المسجد النبوي الشريف ويجتمع إليه عدد كبير من المستفيدين.

سأل بعض المؤمنين من الإخوة الصالحين من مدينة وجدة بالبلاد المغربية الإمام أبو بكر جابر الجزائري أن يضع للفئات المؤمنة من تلك البلاد. والجماعة الصالحة في تلك الربوع، كتاباً أشبه بمنهاج أو قانون، يشمل كل ما يهم المسلم الصالح في عقيدته، وآداب نفسه واستقامة خلقه وعبادته لربه، ومعاملته لإخوانه، على أن يكون الكتاب قبساً من نور الله، فلا يخرج عن دائرة الكتاب والسنة، ويعدو هالتهما، ولا ينفصل عن مركز إشعاعهما بحال من الأحوال، وأجاب الإمام لطلب هؤلاء السائلين، فوضع لهم كتابه القيم الذي بين أيدينا والذي جمع فيه كافة الأصول الشريعة الإسلامية وفروعها. وتسهيلاً في قراءته قام بتقسيم محتوياته على خمسة أبواب تحدث في أولها عن العقيدة، وفي ثانيها عن الآداب، وفي ثالثها عن الأخلاق، وفي رابعها عن العبادات، وفي خامسها عن المعاملات، وبهذا صح أن يسمى هذا الكتاب متهاج المسلم".
