تدور فكرة الكتاب حول تتبع ظاهرة تصدّر (الأشرار) مؤخرا للأدوار الرئيسية في السينما العالمية، وتنحية (الأبطال) إلى الأدوار الثانوية، وذلك من خلال رصد الظاهرة من عدة زوايا (الأدبية - النفسية - الفلسفية والفكرية - التاريخية - المصالح السياسية والاقتصادية). يتكون الكتاب من مقدمة وأربعة فصول وخاتمة: - الفصل الأول: الأشرار في نظر الرواة والمنتجين. - الفصل الثاني: محاباة الأشرار من منظور علم النفس. - الفصل الثالث: كيف تهيأ العقل الغربي لمحاباة الأشرار؟ - الفصل الرابع: المصالح المتبادلة بين تجار الإعلام وصنَّاع القرار.
