إن أمراض الجهاز البولي أعني أمراض الكلية والأعضاء البولية الأخرى للذكر والأنثى والأجهزة التناسلية للرجل هي أمراض متعددة ومختلفة الأوجه. ولكن الناس يعرفون القليل عنها وعن أسبابها ومظاهرها الأولى، والطرق الحديثة للتعرف المبكر عليها، والوقاية منها، وهذا الجهل بالأشياء كثيرا ما يجعل الناس تتأخر في مشاورة الطبيب، وبالتالي التعرف المتأخر جدا على عدة أمراض قبيحة : كالتهاب الكلية - الحويضة المزمن، وسل الكلى، وأورام الأعضاء التناسلية - البولية وغيرها.. وفي هذا الكتيب الذي نقدم فيه للقارىء الأعراض الأولى لأهم أمراض الجهاز التناسلي - البولي، والأسباب التب تؤدي إلى ظهورها وتطورها، وبعض الوسائل التي تقلل من إمكانية ظهور المرض أي طرق الوقاية. فهذا الكتيب المقترح لا ينبغي أن ينظر إليه على أنه «كتاب مدرسي» يمكن بواسطته التعرف على الأمراض ومعالجتها، فهذه الأشياء هي من عمل الطبيب الاختصاصي في هذا الميدان. إنما الشيء الذي نقصد إليه هنا هو أن نبلغ إلى القارىء، كما هو في عنوان الكتاب، ما ينبغي معرفته عن أمراض الجهاز التناسلي - البولي: أولا عن أسبابها وإمكانية الوقاية منها، بحيث يمكن التوجه إلى الطبيب واستشارته في الوقت المناسب أي بمجرد ظهورها. وثانيا عن الطرق الحديثة للتشخيص والعلاج. وذلك لكي نعطي تصورا صحيحا عن إمكانية الشفاء الكامل بشرط أن تكون استشارة الطبيب في الوقت المناسب، وإذا تمكن هذا الكتيب من إعانة أحد القراء على حفظ صحته فقد أدى مبتغاه وكان مجهود المؤلف له معنى.
