لا يخلو مجتمع من المجتمعات من أزمات ومشكلات يعيشها، ويعاني من تبعاتها التي تمس مختلف جوانب وأطراف هذا المجتمع أو ذاك. وقد مارس المنبر الحسيني دوره الوعظي في التنبيه على هذه الأزمات والمشكلات الاجتماعية التي تعاني منها التجمّعات الشيعية، وهو المنبر الذي لم يقتصر في معالجته على موسم عاشوراء، بل امتدّ طوال العام، فكانت مناسبات أهل البيت الأليمة منها والمفرحة فرصة سانحة لدى العديد من القيادات والنخب والخطباء والعلماء لتوعية الجمهور وتوجيههم وإرشادهم ووعظهم بما يتلاءم وطبيعة كل مجتمع. ولعل هذه المسألة من أبرز سمات خطاب سماحة الشيخ حسن الصفار، فهو الخطيب والقيادي الاجتماعي الذي كان ولا يزال يشغله الهمّ المحلي والوطني والإسلامي. وقد كانت فصول هذا الكتاب عبارة عن محاضرات ثلاث ألقاها سماحته بمناسبة ذكرى استشهاد أمير المؤمنين الإمام علي بن أبي طالب في شهر رمضان من العام 1427ﻫ، عالج في أولاها عنوان: الإمام علي ووحدة الأمة، وفي الثانية عالج موضوع: الإمام علي رائد الإصلاح، وفي الليلة الثالثة كان حول: التنمية الإنسانية في عهد الإمام علي .
