هذا الكتاب يتحدث عن أحد الموضوعات المهمة في الكتاب المقدس، أعني به "حقيقة الأختيار". وهي تعتبر من أسمى الحقائق التي أعلنها الوحي الكريم، اذ لا علاقة لها بالإنسان أو استحقاقه أو حتى تفكيره، بل هي مرتبطة بمقاصد الله الأزلية وعطاياه بالنعمة للذين عرفهم وأحبهم في الأزل، الذين هم مدعوون حسب قصده. وحقيقة الأختيار بالأسف حقيقة غير مفهومة من الكثيرين من المؤمنين ومفترى عليها من بعضهم، رغم أنها واردة بوضوح في كلمة الله. يتكون هذا الكتاب من ثمانية عشر فصلاً، وهو يبدأ بفصول تشتمل على نظرات استهلالية للقضية، تاريخية ولاهوتية، تتبعها فصول أخرى عن المسائل الجدلية، وما أكثرها ثم ننتقل من الجدليات الى الجانب التعليمي لتوضيح ما هو الأختيار، وأخيراً نصل إلى قمة الموضوع، بل وقمة المقاصد الإلهية بحسب الأختيار، في الفصول الثلاثة الأخيرة للكتاب.
