عرض شامل للتلمود وتعاليم الحاخاميين حول الأخلاق و الآداب، الدين، التقاليد والقضاء. التلمود هو كتاب تعليم ديانة وآداب قدماء اليهود. فقد أخذ الحاخامات تعاليمهم ومبادىء ديانتهم عن الفريسيين، وبدأوا يحضون على أتباع شريعة موسى، واحتفظوا لأنفسهم تفسير الشريعة على أهوائهم، وبعد مائة وخمسين عاماً من ميلاد السيد المسيح، خشي الحاخام يوضاس من ضياع هذه التعاليم فجمعها في كتاب أسماه الميشنا ومعناه تكرار الشريعة، لأن شريعة موسى المجموعة في الكتب الخمسة مكررة في هذا الكتاب وكان الغرض من الميشنا إيضاح وتفسير ما التبس في شريعة موسى وتكملة لها. وقد أضيف للميشنا في القرون التالية شروحات وهوامش جرى تأليفها في مدارس فلسطين وبابل أطلق عليه اسم الجيمارا وبهذا يتكون التلمود من الميشنا والجيمارا. يحوي كتاب التلمود على صفحات بيضاء ودوائر مرسومة بدلاً عن الكلمات التي تشتم الأنبياء والقديسين والرسل، كما تدل شروحات التلمود أيضاً أن الأمم غير اليهودية هم أميون، أجانب، وثنيون. لقد جمع هذا الكتاب آراء الحاخامات في كل ما يتعلق بالحياة العامة لقدماء اليهود الفردية، ويضعهم في عزلة عن المجتمع الذي يعيشون فيه.
